Independent writing is one of the most popular ways to make money online. Many successful independent independents can earn an average of 50 cents to a dollar per word. Some earn twice that!

Before you decide to start communicating with all of these freelance writing companies, you must have an online presence. You need a blog (in my opinion, of course modest).

Now for everything you've been waiting for; Once you're ready to start making money already, here are 10 websites you can start with:

7. Listverse - Listverse pays $ 100 for each acceptable post. The article must be a list, it must contain at least 1500 words and must contain at least 10 things. Other than that, you can become very creative about it.

8. TopTenz - TopTenz pays $ 50 for each acceptable post. Again, the article should be in list format and should contain at least 1500 words, with a few exceptions. They post often so your chances of getting accepted are somewhat high.

9. A List Apart - A List Apart pays $ 200 for each accepted job. It is not the first on the list, as it tends to publish fewer articles, which means you have less chance of being accepted. Same as above, 1500 word minimum.

10. International Living - International Living pays $ 75 for every accepted job. They mostly look for travel experiences from the countries you have visited. For this site, it is more about your experience than your ability to write.

11. FundsforWriters - FundsforWriters pays $ 50 for each accepted job. They are looking for articles about writing and making money with it. They only accept articles ranging from 500-600 words, but they want you to make each word important.

12. Uxbooth - Uxbooth pays $ 100 for each accepted post. They tend to take and publish articles four to eight weeks, so don't count on being a quick money maker. This process takes a long time, as it is paired with editors to post only amazing content.

13. iWriter - iWriter pays up to $ 15 per acceptable post. This may sound small, but it's not as strict as many others above and also allows you to choose exactly what you write. You can write as many articles or as few as you like.

14. Textbroker - Textbroker pays up to five cents per word, if you are a 5-star writer. You'll start by submitting a short sample article and you'll likely start out as a 3-star writer, but you can work your way up writing more and writing great content.

15. Matador Network - Matador Network pays up to $ 60 per acceptable post, but the standard fee ranges from $ 20 to $ 25. They don't really focus on the minimum word count, but they do have the maximum word count of 1500 words.

16. The Penny Hoarder - The Penny Hoarder pays up to $ 800 (rarely), depending on the number of pageviews you receive. Payment starts at $ 100 for 50,000 pageviews, so this is not a guaranteed paid article, but it is potentially very rewarding.

There is no doubt that you can make money with freelance writing, but it is practical. Once you start building up your portfolio and writing skills, you can start earning some serious money. If you're not an experienced writer, expect to take some time before you really start seeing some dough.
