If you're willing to hang ads on the side of your car, you can earn some much needed additional income.

Would you be happy to walk around in a branded car to earn some extra cash?

If so, then you're in luck: companies now offer motorists up to £ 1,000 a year to cover their cars in ads known as car wrapping.

Car cover is a colorful advertisement printed on a special vinyl cover so that it can be temporarily stuck in your car.

Usually the cover is the full version that pretty much covers your entire car but you can choose smaller ads on the panels or hood.

Get paid for parking and driving

You can ask local companies if they pay for that but the simplest option is to record your details in auto ad service like Car Quids.

It's your car, so you can decline any ads you display from specific brands. But when you're more buzzing, the fewer ads you are likely to get.

Some companies insist that they drive at least 500 miles per month to ensure ads are seen, while others get paid for parking.

Companies occasionally search for vehicles parked in crowded residential areas such as passenger stops near stations or people working from home with their cars parked outside.

How much can I earn?

Prices and coverage required vary.

According to Car Quids, you can earn between £ 200 to £ 300 during a two to three month campaign, and there are also opportunities to earn additional cash on social media.

You can also participate in multiple campaigns annually, earning up to £ 1,000.

Special transparent vinyl is used on the rear and side windows so that the visibility is not affected.

How will I be paid?

Late payment is usually made by check or direct debit.

Most companies expect an initial commitment of one to three months.

Depending on your annual income, you may be responsible for taxes on that, and it is up to you to tell the tax office about any additional earnings.

You must be 18 years of age or over and hold a full valid UK driver's license in addition to the current MOT and road tax for your vehicle.

You will then need to complete the online registration form with your vehicle details, as well as driving or parking habits before your vehicle is matched with a potential advertiser.

How is the car ad installed?

You will need to go to a garage or service center dedicated to placing the ad.

This functionality can be for 10 minutes as there are some ads on the hood and sides. But with a full cover that covers the entire car, this can take up to eight hours.

Ryan from Car Quids explains the process. "We reserve a place to provide you with professional ads. It can be removed easily at home (we provide instructions).

"If you prefer, you can return the car to the installation center at no cost and ask the professionals to remove it.

"The installation process usually takes about 20 minutes and we have openings for reservations on Saturdays as well as during the week to make them as comfortable as possible."

Good to know

Keeping your car clean is usually part of any auto ads deal.

Companies will not want to monitor their brand on a dirty car, so washing them every two weeks, for example, may be part of a contract.

What's more, it should be noted that vehicle wrapping may have implications for your vehicle insurance.
